While we wish you were here relaxing at White Trees, we also understand the importance of being able to relax and wind down in your environment at home, too.
Here are 5 tips for relaxing at home that will help you press the reset button when you are feeling over scheduled .
1) Make or order a charcuterie board and savour it with your favorite drink. They are quick and easy to make and the benefits of charcuterie snacks are found in the variety of fruits, nuts, olives, meats and cheeses that are packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, protein, fibre and healthy fats.
There’s nothing better than grazing your way through a charcuterie board.
2) Take time to meditate. Even one minute of taking some deep breaths and calming your mind makes a huge difference. Here is a quick 5 Minute meditation to try https://youtu.be/u7KaWbPbO3E
Meditation reduces stress, improves memory, promotes focus and can even help fight age-related memory loss and dementia. It increases your attention span, lowers your blood pressure and improves your mental health. Maybe this is the answer to remembering why you went in to the next room!
3) Pour a bath with Epsom salts or sea salts and light a candle.
Did you know that salts clean your energy and reset you? Taking a salt bath not only eases your muscles and calms the mind, it also has the benefits of boosting your immunity, increasing energy, balancing alkalinity and boosting your overall health. Minerals like magnesium and potassium found in Epsom salt and sea salt can be drawn into the bloodstream during a warm bath to eliminate toxins and balance the entire body.
4) Take a break from electronics and be present with your friends and family. Play a game, give someone you haven’t talked to in a while a quick call to say hello, laugh, crank some music and dance. Spending time away from your computer and your phone — even if it’s only for short periods of time each day allows your brain to recover and process information, grow and develop. 5) Watch a good movie or read a good book. Movies and books are a great way to relax and give your mind a rest. You can focus on the present moment while being transported to a different time and place. Although a suspenseful movie or book can stress us out at first, watching something suspenseful releases cortisol (the stress hormone) in the brain, followed by dopamine, which produces feelings of pleasure. Our recommendation is to throw on a funny movie, and get that serotonin flowing. The benefits of laughter are undeniable. Our mission at White Trees is to facilitate peace for over scheduled entrepreneurs. Whether it be at home or with us, it's important that you take some time to press pause and relax. You deserve it.
