How do you find balance and prevent your plate from becoming too full? That is the million dollar question...
Finding balance is something I struggle with and work really hard to manage, but it never fails that my plate gets too full and I add stress to myself where it just doesn’t need to be.
Part of why I am so passionate about retreats is learning to find that balance and what kinds of tools we can use to bring ourselves back to center when things get busy and stressful.
It can be so hard to prioritize yourself and time for yourself. We put ourselves at the bottom of the list and we have to understand that if we don’t put ourselves first and fill our own cups, we can’t be as much for everyone else or as present as we want to be for the people we love because we are holding it together by a thread.
I am famous for not practicing what I preach at times. I go through phases where I am a rockstar at getting up an hour early, doing my miracle morning and making it a non-negotiable whenever I can.
I also go through phases when days go by without fitting in a walk or a few pages of my book. Where I haven't even thought to journal or found 5 minutes in my day to meditate.
Finding balance means focusing on balance in all areas of your life. If a table has one or two legs that are different lengths, that table will wobble and may not even stand up.
The same is true for our lives when we let some parts slip.
I have so much respect for the people who seemingly have it all together and appear to fit it all in. I so want to be that person. I want to exercise every day. I want to be constantly learning and growing. I want to journal, read and meditate each day. I want to eat healthy. I want to be present with the people I talk to and the tasks that I focus on. I want to be productive and I want to fit in quality connection and time with my friends and family. I want to give back. I want to make a difference. I want to travel. I want to laugh... a lot!
How do we balance it all???
By doing it a bit a time. But by doing it. Do the things!
Read the book. Get your butt out the door for a walk.
If we can sit there scrolling through social media racking up hours of screen time we can surely choose to take 5 minutes to meditate, 10 mins to read a few pages in a book and for the love of God, put down our phones and connect with eachother. This is more a direct message to myself!
It’s all about balance and it’s a balancing act to find it. As long as we try to find it, we are making progress.
I am planning our next retreat with this mind and prioritizing time for you and for me to do some of those things that help us find that balance.
We are collaborating with some amazing people to bring you a transformational experience that will stay with you and fill you up. Fill your cup so you can be everything to everyone else and get closer to balancing it all.
Join us this September and bask in the feeling of focusing solely on you. You deserve it!
