Do you find it hard to sleep because there is so much on your mind?
Is there so much to do that you’re not sure when you are going to get it done?
Are you taking risks that are raising your blood pressure and stressing you out?
That...is what it means to be an overscheduled entrepreneur.
A friend of mine asked me what I mean when I say entrepreneur. The dictionary meaning is “a person who starts a business and is willing to risk loss in order to make money.” Merriam-Webster.com
The term to me is much broader than this and is catchall for every remarkable attribute you can associate with taking initiative, thinking outside the box, taking risks with new ideas, managing resources….the list could go on and on.
If you are a parent, I see you as an entrepreneur. If you are part of a large corporation responsible for meeting budgets and managing teams, I see you as entrepreneurial. If you own your own business, you are a textbook entrepreneur.
One common thread with all entrepreneurs though, is being overscheduled! It is critical to find work like balance, to take time to rest and recharge. Time to turn it off, time to press pause.
Burnout is a real issue in the world we live in. Email and phones have created a respond immediately at all hours of the day mentality.
It’s ok to leave a message.
It’s ok to use your "out of office".
It’s ok if you don’t read that text until you are done with your meeting.
Be present.
Manage your time and attention with intention and better yet, block your time to focus on specific tasks so you can be more productive overall and for the love of…..take time to slow down and take a deep breath. You’ve got this.
Come to White Trees where you can take a social media break and reconnect with nature. Sit by the water and enjoy the view. Breathe in the fresh air. Listen to the birds and the wind rustle the leaves in the trees. Sit at the beach with your toes in the sand.
